Renovation is Nearing Completion

The renovation of the A.C. and Myrta Schreiner house is nearing completion, and the progress is remarkable. The City of Kerrville plans to turn the keys over to us by Mid-January and then the transformation really happens. Exhibit development is underway with Quatrefoil design firm and once we take over managing the house, we will move into the exhibit fabrication stage with Condit Exhibits to prepare for exhibit installation in the spring. Marksmen General Contractors has created a beautiful palette for exhibits that will celebrate the unique history of our region. Take a look at a few pictures comparing the demolition phase and the renovation progress. Can you imagine these spaces transformed into exhibit, program, and office spaces for all to enjoy? It’s quickly taking shape, and I couldn’t keep these pictures to myself. Enjoy!

The original dining room is transforming into a warm and inviting space where we can host programs, greet school groups, and hold summer camp.

The living room is transforming into the community gallery with the existing fireplace to retain the sense of home.

Fire safety equipment has been installed to ensure a safe experience for all visitors.

We have plans to create an immersive theater experience with surround sound in this enclosed porch on the first floor. Funding is still needed to complete this area and naming opportunities are available. Reach out if you’re interested in helping to support this project.

The third floor office space has built-in desks and a kitchenette for future staff and volunteers.
