Join us at the new Heritage Center’s beautiful event space for an intimate concert with Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines to pay tribute to the legendary Jimmie Rodgers, the Father of Country Music.
Terri Hendrix is a singer-songwriter and Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Artist, who has been performing with Lloyd Maines for over 30 years. Lloyd Maines is a Grammy Award winning music producer, multi-instrumentalist, and the Texas Heritage Songwriters Association’s 2027 Darrell K Royal “Texas Music Legend Award” winner with lots of music and stories to share. This annual event will feature a discussion led by Kathleen Hudson, retired Schreiner University professor, oral historian, and nonprofit arts leader whose work documents and celebrates the rich traditions of Texas music and culture. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to celebrate Jimmie Rodgers with these fabulous musicians.

Birds of a Feather: Needle Felting Workshop for Adults taught by Andrea Rummel
Create a whimsical stack of colorful birds while learning the basics of needle felting and “painting” with fiber. Students will use vibrant wool fibers to explore layering, blending, texture, and simple design techniques to bring their artwork to life.
This beginner friendly adult class includes all materials and instructions needed to complete a charming framed piece to take home and enjoy. No experience necessary.
Registration required. $50/ticket.

Front Porch Friday
Front Porch Friday on the first Friday of each month is a free community event with access to exhibits, live music, food for sale, and activities celebrating a different heritage theme each month.
Tile Making Workshop with Kerr County Love Project
Get creative at one of the final community tile-making workshops before the Kerr County Love Project enters the fabrication phase!
Join us as we create the tiny flowers, almonds, and detailed tile pieces that will bring the mural to life. These small pieces may seem simple, but together they complete a much larger story—one of resilience, connection, and hope.
Whether you've joined us before or this will be your very first workshop, we'd love to create with you. All ages are welcome, no art experience is needed, and participation is free.
We hope you'll join us for one of these special workshops as we take the next exciting step toward completing this community-created mural.

Community Archive Recording Session
Community members affected by the July 2025 Texas Hill Country floods are invited to share their experiences during two Community Archive Recording Sessions on July 11 and 12. The events will collect oral histories that will become part of a permanent digital archive at the Heart of the Hills Heritage Center, preserving the community's experiences, resilience, and recovery.
Hosted by the Texas Hill Country Youth Media Initiative, the recording sessions will be led by high school students from across Texas, some of whom experienced the floods, and students from California whose communities were impacted by recent wildfires.
People of all ages are encouraged to participate, including community members, students, volunteers, first responders, community organizers, business owners, and anyone whose life was affected by the flood. Participants will have the opportunity to share stories of leadership, acts of care and courage, community resilience, lessons learned, memories, and hopes for the future through guided oral history interviews.
The recording sessions will take place:
Saturday, July 11 1:30–5 p.m. Kerr Together Disaster Relief Center
Sunday, July 12 1:30–5 p.m. Heart of the Hills Heritage Center
The events are free and open to the public.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP in advance. Individuals attending together should complete a separate RSVP form for each participant.

Art Workshop - Guadalupe River Flags of Hope and Reverence
Join us to create a flag for the Guadalupe River — one that reflects hope, prayer, and reverence for those we lost, for the land that is healing, and for all of us who are healing too.
Our hope is to create a flag to honor each individual lost in the devastating flood. Our ultimate hope is simply to see how far love, prayer, and hope can travel along the Guadalupe River.
Workshop is free, open to the public, and includes access to all exhibits.

Innovation Celebration!
Celebrate Kerr County’s innovative spirit with a concert on the lawn and activities and demonstrations of local innovations indoors. Ghosts of the Pleasure Garden will play at 5:30 for a special Juneteenth concert, showcasing the influence blues music had on the British rock movement of the 60s. Black & Blues Barbecue will be selling turkey legs. FREE exhibit admission for the event.
