Wartime Letters Home exhibit @ KACC
Wartime Letters Home: Sharing Stories of Service is currently on display at Kerr Arts and Cultural Center through Saturday June 14. KACC is open Monday thru Saturday 10am – 4pm.
Heart of the Hills Heritage Center worked with Kerr County Historical Commission and our community to research and create this exhibit that features 28 veterans from WWI to current conflicts all with a connection to Kerr County.
Through every military conflict, veterans have written home to their families and friends. In every letter or email sent, there are similarities. They write about missing home and loved ones. They write about the countries where they are stationed and the friends who support them on the front lines. They share their pride and their angst at what they are called to do. These letters show the impact of war in a very personal way. We are grateful to those who have shared their letters and stories to honor these brave Americans. It is but a snapshot of the many who have served and those still serving. We are honored to tell their stories.
Acknowledgments: Thank you to Kerr Arts and Cultural Center, Rivers Edge Gallery, Joe Herring Jr., and the families and loved ones of the military service members featured in the exhibit for providing letters, photographs, and artifacts for display.
